Know before you run out
Set a reorder point on any item, and HomyScan tells you the moment stock drops below it. You reorder on time instead of finding the empty shelf mid-job.
A stockout always costs more than the item
The screws run out at 2pm and the job stops. Someone drives to the supplier, the crew waits, the afternoon is gone. Worldwide, stockouts cost businesses 1.2 trillion dollars a year, but you don't feel the global number. You feel the one job pushed to next week and the client who calls someone else. The fix is boring and it works: know you're low before you're empty.
Set it once, get warned forever
Set a reorder point
On each item, enter the quantity where you want a warning. Set it per location too: a van and the warehouse can have different minimums.
Stock drops as you work
Every scan out lowers the count. When an item hits its reorder point, HomyScan flags it.
You get the alert
An email and a push land on your phone, with the item, the location and how many are left. You reorder before the shelf is empty.
How to set a reorder point that works
Too high and you sit on cash. Too low and you run out during the wait for delivery. The plain-words version:
You go through 2 boxes of screws a day. Your supplier takes 5 days to deliver. That's 10 boxes used during the wait. Add a few for a bad week, say 3, and your reorder point is 13. When stock hits 13, you order, and you never reach zero.
Safety stock is the small buffer you keep for the weeks demand spikes or the supplier runs late.
Alerts that fit how you work
Per-item reorder points
Every item gets its own minimum. The drill bits and the safety gloves don't run out at the same number.
Per-location thresholds
Set different minimums for the warehouse, the shop and each van. Low in Van 2 doesn't mean low everywhere.
Email and push
Get the alert where you'll see it: a push on your phone on site, an email at the desk.
A live low-stock list
One screen shows everything below its minimum, sorted by how short you are. Your shopping list writes itself.
Red flags in the dashboard
Anything low turns red across the app, so you spot it without hunting.
Set a global default
Drowning in items? Set one default minimum for everything, then fine-tune the ones that matter.
For teams that run out at the worst moment
Trades and field crews
The consumable you burn on every job: cable, fittings, fixings. Get warned before the van is empty on site.
Workshops and makers
The raw material with a long lead time. Order it before the build stalls waiting on a delivery.
Small warehouses and shops
The fast mover that walks out the door. Keep it on the shelf without overstocking the slow ones.
Low stock alert questions
What's a reorder point?
The stock level where you reorder an item. Set it to what you use during the supplier's lead time, plus a small safety buffer. HomyScan alerts you when an item hits it.
How is a reorder point different from safety stock?
Safety stock is the buffer for bad weeks and late deliveries. The reorder point includes that buffer plus what you'll use while waiting for the order to arrive.
Can I set different alerts for different locations?
Yes. Each location has its own minimum, so a van running low doesn't depend on what's in the warehouse.
How do I get notified?
By push on your phone and by email. The alert names the item, the location and how many are left.
What if I have hundreds of items?
Set one global default minimum to start, then adjust the items that matter most. You don't have to configure every item by hand.
Does it tell me how much to reorder?
The alert shows what's left and your reorder point, so you know the gap to fill. HomyScan flags the need; you place the order with your supplier.
